Two 16-year-old Girls Alone In Prison (part 2)
Please scroll down and read the previous post if you missed it yesterday. It's about two 16-year-old girls from New York City - one Guinean, the other Bangladeshi whose parents entered this country illegally - who have been detained as possible "suicide bombers" based on what looks like no evidence whatsoever. They need our help and support; they need e-mails and letters written to whomever can help them; they need phone calls and marches and rallies and whatever it takes.
I don't give a shit about anything else in the world right now but these two little girls. This is a fucking outrage! This is not what America is supposed to be about. While countless detentions since 9/11 have saddened and maddened me, this is the last fucking straw. I hope that all the groups and organizations committed to Democratic principles get on top of this. Because these two 16-year-old girls who are sitting in a detention center in another state and are being threatened and bullied NEED OUR HELP!
I'm very, very happy that both my diary and another diary at Daily Kos made the recommended list today. Jeff Simpson's diary is called War on Muslims: Two 16 Year Old Girls Arrested as "would-be suicide bombers" and there is a thread at Democratic Underground started by teach1st entitled .
Bfa, a Daily Kos member, pointed me toward a blog called Dark Days Ahead which has been covering this story. Saurav has more information on stuff you can do to help these two girls.
Please get the word out. Please do something to help them. In the other stories that I linked to and quoted from in the previous post, numerous officials - off the record - said that there was nothing to the charges against these girls and that the F.B.I. is over-reacting.
Please help.
